The Low GI Diet: Does It Work To Get Rid Of Acne?If you're interested in getting rid of acne, or reducing it, with a diet treatment for acne, then you'll be interested in the low GI diet. It has been long thought that refined foods can tend to increase acne, and has been the source of debate about whether your diet can cause acne. But a recent study by an Australian university in Melbourne (RMIT) has found evidence that a high GI diet may contribute to acne. The study looked at boys in their teens and the relationship between their eating patterns and acne. They were divided into 2 groups. One group had "sugary snacks and processed foods" while the other had more wholesome foods that were low GI. The high GI group had foods such as: cakes and biscuts, white bread, potatoes, rice, soft drinks. The low GI group had foods that were low GI substitutes, such as multigrain bread, pasta, fruits, vegetables, legumes, lean meats and fish. See this page for more on the low GI diet and acne. It was found that there was a "dramatic" improvement of 50% reduction in acne in 12 weeks in the boys who followed this "higher protein-lower GI" diet. The study concluded that high GI foods is somehow linked to worsening of acne, and did not say that they were the cause. There was a dermatologist who commented that he has been using this "skin friendly" diet in his own practice with results. So see if you can put this diet into practice to see if it works for you as well. Click Here For Effective Acne Treatments |
